AUGUST 2008

SkySurf company founder, and frequent airline passenger identified a gap in the Canadian in-flight connectivity market. Other markets including the US and Britain had offered in-flight connectivity for some time and someone needed to bring this service to Canada.
 

MAY 2009

SkySurf secured ownership of the licensed spectrum required to deliver in-flight internet services through a public telecom auction.
 

JANUARY 2010

Air Canada began testing in-flight wireless Internet service on certain flights between Toronto / Montreal and Los Angeles / San Francisco using air-to-ground technology.
 

2011

For the first time ever, SkySurf will allow substantially all passengers to stay connected in-flight.
